While I was perusing Twitter the other day, I could not believe my eyes.
Yup… see for yourself:
You see, Twitter is a space for open contact to just about anyone who wants to have there 140 character lives displayed for all to see, instantly and in real time (read whenever you post). Different than Facebook and MySpace, but social just the same.
There are celebs galore, the average Joe’s, marketers, photographers, writer’s and everyone in between.
Hailed as the “newest social network” Twitter now boasts 6 million user’s and is fast becoming the “place” to be.
So just what is Twitter?
Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
Why would you Twitter?
Why? Because even basic updates are meaningful to family members, friends, or colleagues—especially when they’re timely.
- Eating soup? Research shows that moms want to know.
- Running late to a meeting? Your co–workers might find that useful.
- Partying? Your friends may want to join you.
How do you Twitter?
With Twitter, you can stay hyper–connected to your friends and always know what they’re doing. Or, you can stop following them any time. You can even set quiet times on Twitter so you’re not interrupted.
Twitter puts you in control and becomes a modern antidote to information overload.
Information overload… ha, that’s for sure. And addictive, sorta voyeristic, while being strange.
You can watch/read more information about individuals than you would really want to know about just by changing your settings from “just my friends” to “everyone”. If everyone is turned on, then you see a lot of things you may never see… especially if you are in another country, state, town.
Some guy lost his job because of the tirade he had with a PR agent who did not return his phone call in a timely manner. Wow, really? Other’s just tirade because… well, that is what they do.
Still Twitter is hailed as the quickest and easiest way to connect with people while keeping up-to-date with the goings and comings of friends and family. It can be also accessed by the mired of cell phone applications which makes it an instant, carry-along, tell me now kinda thing.
In the two weeks I have been on Twitter, I have around 90 followers. Not sure why really, as I have no clue who half the people following me, actually are.
But it is interesting to see the immediacy of the technology at hand. Not exactly the hardest thing I learned lately, though the learning curve can take a bit.
So why not join and see if it’s for you. You may find someone/something interesting.
Till Next Time…..
And don’t forget to
