February – What’s Goin’ On?

Posted by gottabkd on Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Besides the snow, rain, cold temps and extremely dry skin we have goin’ on, we all want to know what is really goin’ on this month in Toronto.

So here is a short list:

February is:

Black History Month and Canada has deep roots and much history to be looked at. Some of my favourites are listedat the Toronto City site and the events happen all month long. Other provinces across Canada have their own events, so Google them to find out what is going on in your province or check the Canada Heritage site for more information.

Heart Health month. Ok it’s time to do your heart some good, change old habits and get in shape.. Check the Heart and Stroke Foundationfor more tips and infos…They have just launched a new site to raise awareness of this disease for women. All righty then, nuff said.

Events Toronto has a complete listing of stuff going on so check the website monthly to find things to do within the city limits.

Valentines Day… oh yeah, lets not forget that one… For tips on what to get me, your sweetie for this hallmark moment check here, here and don’t forget I want this as well..

Let’s not forget:
Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Mardi Gras, Lunar New Years, and Super Tuesday.

Did I tell you there will be a lunar eclispe Fenruary 20th… No? You should go outside between 7pm and 11pm to catch this amazing event and it’s free 😉

The Spice Girls are gracing the ACC with a four day sold out event. Ummmmm really? Why?Since it’s sold out no point in posting a link. Floor seats went for $450 Cdn and that’s a hefty price. I mean if you have any yungens who would want to see them, two tickets will set you back 900 buckaroos and that does not include memorabilia… um I don’t think so..
But check the Air Canada Centres home page for other concerts gracing Toronto this month as I am sure there is something for everyone…. and at a better price as well!
“Air Canada Centre is ranked #3,#4, and #5 worldwide in the top three Concert Industry Trade Magazines (Venues Today, Pollstar and Billboard).”

The Erotic Arts Festival is happening Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 – The Erotic Arts & Crafts Fair at the Gladstone Hotel. For more information contact: Phone: 416-504-7934 sorry no weblink,  The Gladstone is located @ 1214 Queen Street West and admissions is suggested at $15 or PWYC (Pay what you can)

For all you car fans, the Canadian Auto Show  is happening February 15th to 24th. According to their site: “This year’s Show encompasses over 850,000 sq. ft. in the North & South Metro Toronto Convention Centre and Rogers Centre. Over 1,000 new cars and trucks are on display featuring many North American and Canadian premieres. “ Entrance fee is 20 bucks for adults for one day or 30 bucks for a two day pass. With nearly a million square feet to see, the two day pass may be the ticket to buy.

This list is just a smattering of things to do this month so I highly encourage you to check the Toronto City site for the rest…
