I Would Be Happy If….

Posted by gottabkd on Saturday, November 3, 2007

So what is it? What is it that would make you happy (ier) than you are right now.

So often people go around saying this phrase without really knowing the consequences of the tongue.
They say that there is power in the words we speak, yet no one, OK hardly anyone takes that seriously.

I would be happier if…. I had more money
I would be happier if…. I was not here
I would be happier if…. I were on vacation….
I would be happier if…. fill in the blank with whatever you want to.

But here is the thing, the sub-conscious treats everything as a prayer or request. Out comes the thought, and if your not careful, the universe sends it right back. So if you give out that deficit mindset, everyone, the universe, sends it right back at you. Negativity breeds negativity.

So then the opposite must be true as well right?
The attitude of gratitude being the opposite, or an attitude of positivity, while acknowledged will then be sent back to you right? Positivity breeds positivity.

We all know those sayings… like : Worry never robs tomorrow of it’s sorrow, but it robs today of it’s joy….
Think positive be positive…. A smile is a frown turned upside down….

But are they right? Do they work? Can gratitude change your sadness to happiness?
Basically, happiness is a choice…. just like all the other emotions we have, we can choose to remain in that negative state or choose to change it…. Sometimes just changing our reaction to a situation changes the whole situation around.

Maya Angelou says: “If you don’t like it, change it…. If you can’t change it, change the way YOU think about it.”
Basically she is right.

However to complicate things a little, the issue lies when perception is 100% in the mind of the beholder… until they are told something different. Then they have a choice to either change their perception thus changing their reaction or…. not…. simple really.

Your mind has the power to choose which of those two mind-sets to follow. The choice is yours.
