Feeling hot, hot hot….
Feeling hot, hot, hot….

The weather isn’t the only thing rising this weekend as the 2007 Caribana Festival comes to heat up the streets and make you feel hot, hot, hot!

The temperatures will be in the mid 30’s and the revelers will be on the streets, dancing, jumpin’, winan’ and grindin’ themselves to the beat of the music. Pan music, soca music and the sounds of the Caribbean. This is the weekend that Toronto celebrates the 40th anniversary of this parade that will travel Lakeshore Blvd.

Caribana 40th

In its 40th year it has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America. As Carnival is an international cultural phenomenon, the great metropolis of Toronto and its environs will come alive as the city explodes with the pulsating rhythms and melodies of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Hip Hop, Chutney, Steel Pan and Brass Bands. This colourful exhibition and display of genius is truly a musical panorama that is certain to bring a pleasing smile to the ancestral titans of Pan and Calypso music.

And this year promises to be bigger and better than before.

The Parade begins at Exhibition Place and moves west along Lakeshore Boulevard.
If you’re heading for paid seating, take the 511 bus from Bathurst Station or the LRT from Union Station directly into Exhibition Place. Otherwise take the 29 bus south from Dufferin Station, the Lansdowne Express from Lansdowne Station or the Keele Express from Keele Station. (TTC info: 416-393-4636 or TTC’s website.) The Lakeshore GO Â train also stops at Exhibition Place. (416-869-3200, 888-GET-ON-GO or www.gotransit.com
