Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to youuuu,
Happy Birth-day dear Toronto,
Happy Birthday to youuuuuuu
!

Wow… 175 years young!
Not old in comparrison to the rest of the world but young just the same. Toronto is truly a young’en.

So the celebrations are on, with many things happening in and around Toronto. My advice, take in a few of them by seeing what’s going on on the city’s website.

Sorry for keeping it short, but I am completely internet challenged these days. I’ll be back soon enough with more goodies, I promise.

Till Next Time…..

Wow! 1 Million Hits!

Posted by gottabkd on Monday, December 29, 2008

I am not really a stat watcher, but I must say that stats are encouraging.
I remember when this blog hit it’s 1000 reader mark. I thought wow, 1000 people have actually visited this site, cool.

Then this blog hit it’s 10,000 reader mark and that’s when the stats became a little more important fun to watch. For no other reason than just marking the different milestones that happen while enjoying the awesome yet strange encouragement it gives a blogger.

Next came the one year anniversary milestone (which I completely missed) and then the 200 post milestone. Both these milestones were met under the impression that they may never be met. I really did not think I would be around this long, let alone enjoy this phenom called blogging. Yet somehow these milestones happened, just like they happen to every blogger, and the encouragement continued.

Now imagine this milestone: 1,000,000 visitors.

Can you?
Imagine your blog hitting this HUGE milestone? I hope to one day!

It really is a wonderful accomplishment when a blog reaches 1 million hits, doesn’t sell you a thing, is upbeat and humorous to boot.

Today, my Fraccy friend can actually celebrate this A-M-A-Z-I-N-G milestone.

Congrats Fracas, may you see a million more!
Go check her out, she really is funny.

Till Next Time…..

Contest – Win A Trip To Whistler, British Columbia.

Posted by gottabkd on Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Whistler Contest

TSN and Workopolis want you to win a three day trip for two to Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Contest is open to residents of Canada and the prize includes a rental car, $500 Cdn spending money, $175 dining gift certificate and three nights accommodations in Whistler B.C.

Prize must be taken by April 30th, 2009 so you won’t be there during the Olympics, but Whistler has some of the best skiing in all of Canada. Big mountains mean big ski hills and of course big fun for you should you take your trip during winter… But let me tell you that no matter what season you go there, this area is breath-takingly beautiful during all seasons.

Here are the details….

You May Live In Canada If….

Posted by gottabkd on Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Here’s a little something my friend sent me via email. I thought it was kinda humourous considering all the ups and downs this winter season has presented us this year.
Most of it made me laugh and if you live in Canada, you may find it funny as well….

Canada Flag movement

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May,you may live in Canada.

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don’t work there, you may live in Canada.

If you’ve worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Canada.

If you’ve had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Canada.

If “Vacation” means going anywhere south of Muncie for the weekend, you may live in Canada.

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Canada.

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Canada.

If you have switched from “heat” to “A/C” in the same day and back again, you may live in Canada.

If you can drive 90 kms/hr through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you may live in Canada

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Canada.

If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Canada.

If you design your kid’s Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you may live in Canada.

If the speed limit on the highway is 80km — you’re going 90 and everybody is passing you, you may live in Canada.

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you may live in Canada.

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction, you may live in Canada.

If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car, you may live in Canada.

If you find 2 degrees “a little chilly”, you may live in Canada.

If you actually understand these jokes, and you send all your Canadian friends & others here for a laugh, you definitely live in Canada.

Cheers!
